Hesco Testing Protocol
NIJ Certification for hard armor needs 10” x 12” test plates to defeat specific rounds in a valid NIJ shot pattern after strict conditioning. Level III needs six M80 rounds per plate, and Level IV needs one AP M2 per plate. Other same - construction torso plates can be included in the Certification without extra NIJ testing.
Hesco sets a higher standard by showing the minimum shots each plate size can handle and listing more threats not covered by NIJ Certification in the Threat Performance Matrix.
