Hesco Testing Protocol

NIJ Certification of hard armor needs 10” x 12” test plates to show they can defeat specific rounds following a strict conditioning protocol. Level III requires six M80 rounds per plate, and Level IV requires one AP M2 per plate. NIJ allows other identically - constructed torso plates to be included in the Certification without extra testing. Hesco sets a higher standard by showing the minimum number of shots each size plate can handle and listing more threats not covered by NIJ.
