Hesco Testing Protocol
NIJ Certification of hard armor involves testing 10” x 12” plates. Level III needs six M80 rounds per plate, and Level IV requires one AP M2 per plate. Other same - construction torso plates can be included in the certification without further NIJ testing. Hesco goes beyond by publishing minimum shot numbers for each size plate and listing additional threats.

These plates feature an advanced ceramic/Spectra® design, are multi - shot rated for selected threats, offer light AP protection including against 5.56 x 45 M855. They have a water - repellant polyurethane - coated CORDURA® fabric finish and are made in the U.S.A.
NIJ Standard–0101.06
They are tested and verified to meet or exceed ballistic resistance under NIJ Standard– 0101.06 and special rifle threats are validated.
