The PT Scout Rifle - Rated Target Plates are engineered with both durability and sound quality in mind. Each target plate is crafted from a 3/8 - inch thick heavy - duty AR550 steel plate. We've included grade 8 carriage bolts that are tough enough to withstand bullet impacts and last longer than ordinary bolts. If heavy use wears down the plate, it's reversible. You can easily flip it using the 3/4 - inch wrench built into the foot of the PT Scout stand. When the target is mounted on the PT Scout stand and a 2x4, projectiles are safely and predictably directed down and away from shooters. The large base and well - balanced center of gravity keep the target upright. For larger calibers or uneven ground, there are staking locations on the PT Scout stand feet. Using the PT Scout target is quite straightforward. First, mount the target on the PT Scout stand and a 2x4. This setup will direct the projectiles safely away from you. When setting up on uneven terrain or using larger calibers, use the staking locations on the stand feet to keep the target stable. If you notice that the target plate has worn out from heavy use, you can reverse it. Just use the 3/4 - inch wrench built into the stand foot. Changing target heads doesn't require any tools, so you can do it quickly on the range. Now, for the important stuff. Only use rifle calibers up to.308 from 100 yards and beyond, and make sure the muzzle velocity is no more than 3000 fps at 100 yards. Avoid using steel core, steel jacket or other AP ammunition as it's not recommended for this target. To maintain your target, check the grade 8 bolts regularly for any signs of wear. The zinc - plated bracket helps prevent corrosion, but it's still a good idea to keep the target dry when not in use. And since the target plate is factory - painted, avoid scratching it to keep the target looking good and functioning well.
