Hesco Testing Protocol
NIJ Certification for hard armor needs 10” x 12” test plates. They must defeat specific rounds after a strict conditioning test. Level III needs six M80 rounds per plate, and Level IV needs one AP M2 per plate. Other same - construction torso plates can be included in the Certification without more NIJ testing.
Hesco sets a higher standard. It shows the minimum shots each size plate can handle under similar NIJ tests and lists more threats not covered by NIJ Certification in the Threat Performance Matrix.
