Hesco Testing Protocol
NIJ Certification needs 10” x 12” test plates to defeat specific rounds. Level III requires six M80 rounds per plate, and Level IV requires one AP M2 per plate. Other size torso plates of the same construction are included in the Certification without extra NIJ testing.
Hesco goes further by showing the minimum shots each size plate can handle and listing more threats.

Using your Hesco side plate is easy. First, make sure it's paired with a compatible HESCO torso plate. Put it in the designated side pockets of your body armor. That way, it can protect the areas under your arms when you're using your weapon. As for maintenance, keep it in a dry place. The waterproof coating helps, but it's best to avoid long - term exposure to water. Also, check the plate regularly for any signs of damage like cracks or chips. If you notice any issues, stop using it and contact Hesco. And remember, these plates are designed to take a hit, but don't expect them to handle an unlimited number of shots. Refer to the threat performance matrix to know what they can handle.
