The JW Fishers PROTON 5 is a remarkable fifth-generation proton magnetometer, serving as the ultimate detector for iron and steel targets. This microprocessor-driven marine magnetometer detection system offers top-notch performance. With a maximum range of 1,500 feet (450m) on each side (3,000-foot total swath), it enables you to search large areas quickly and thoroughly. It's great for locating smaller targets like pipelines, anchors, and cannons, especially when they're buried and hard to find with sonar or video. The detection range isn't affected by the medium between the magnetometer and the target, whether it's air, water, or sand. With a one Nano -Tesla (nT) sensitivity, it's the most sensitive for a towed proton precession magnetometer. A two-second cycle time ensures a strong signal and can detect small targets. The triaxial noise-cancelling sensor allows omnidirectional towing without errors. It has a fully digitized system with a 6-inch backlit LCD for easy reading, showing current 5-digit measurements and up to 80 previous ones graphically. The optional altimeter displays the distance from the bottom. User-friendly menus let you configure settings easily from the control box, and an adjustable audio alarm helps you set the change threshold. The towfish has excellent hydrodynamic features, moving smoothly at up to 10 knots. It can be towed at various speeds, but slower is better for small targets. The optional UA-3 Altimeter helps maintain distance, and for deep water, use the DDW-1 depressor. It's collapsible and fits in a watertight Pelican® case, with modular construction for easy field repair.

Using the JW Fishers PROTON 5 is straightforward. First, connect the towfish to your vessel. You can adjust the tow speed according to your target. For small targets, a 2 - 3 knot speed is recommended. If you have the optional UA - 3 Altimeter, it will help you keep a proper distance from the bottom. When towing in deep water, attach the DDW - 1 depressor. Use the user - friendly menus on the top - side control box to set the operation settings and system tuning. The adjustable audio alarm can be set to your preference. Pay attention to the 6 - inch LCD screen to see the measurements. As for maintenance, keep the equipment dry. After use, clean it gently with fresh water to remove salt and debris. If there are any issues, the modular construction allows for easy field repair. Store the collapsible towfish in the watertight Pelican® case to protect it from damage.
