Using the Petzl CROLL® S chest ascender is a straightforward process. For rope ascents, you can pair it with either the BASIC ascender or the ASCENSION handled ascender. First, attach it to the rope through the appropriate holes. The lower angled hole helps keep the ascender flat, and you can use the upper hole to attach a TORSE shoulder strap to keep it in position. To open the catch, just pinch it. When using it, always make sure the rope is within the 8 - 11 mm diameter range that it's compatible with. As for maintenance, after each use, give it a good clean, especially if you've used it in dirty or wet conditions. Check the stainless - steel cam and wear plate for any signs of damage or excessive wear. The ascender comes with a 3 - year guarantee, but proper use and maintenance will ensure it lasts even longer.
